Thank you for visiting, I’m so pleased to have you here. My name is Amy Braes, and I am the daughter of an incredible woman, Karen Braes, who lost her battle with Stage IV ovarian cancer in May 2021. Mum’s passing came five years and one month after her diagnosis. While Mum faced ovarian cancer with strength and enduring hope, I remember the uncertainty our family experienced at the time of her diagnosis. I remember the questions we asked, and the shock of learning that there is no early detection test for ovarian cancer. Ten years on, this is still the case. But there has been progress, and there is hope. That is why I’m launching this campaign. It is a mission to raise $1 million to fund research into the detection, treatment and prevention of ovarian cancer. I know the drive for change exists in communities across Australia. Every time a woman is diagnosed at a late stage, every time someone learns there is no early detection test, and every time a life is lost to this disease, we are reminded that more must be done. Early detection is one change that will make a difference. And the pathway to early detection is research. One million dollars is an ambitious goal. But if this message reaches far enough, I believe we can achieve something meaningful, together. If you’ve found your way here, thank you for taking the time to read and to share in Mum’s story. It is a story of hope. And my hope now is that you will choose to be part of this campaign. Please share this page. Please follow along on Facebook and Instagram, where I’ll be sharing updates, including my upcoming buzz cut. And please consider donating, no matter how small. In loving memory of Karen Braes. With hope and gratitude, Amy

This campaign began with one amazing person. 💖My incredible Mum, Karen, who faced ovarian cancer with incredible strength, positivity and hope. We lost Mum in 2021, but her story did not end there. ✨Today, her legacy is helping start conversations, fund research and build hope for the future. 💫Thank you for helping us turn love into action.

What a month! 💛 We welcomed Professor Carlos Salomon-Gallo and Dr Shabnam Gujadhur to Mareeba for an incredible community conversation about ovarian cancer, research and the importance of earlier detection. We also chatted with AJ from Radio 4AM North Queensland and caught up with the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF)! Out and about, more people are asking questions, sharing ideas and finding new ways to help build the buzz. 💫 Onwards to July, with gratitude and hope.
