The Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) is thrilled to be the beneficiary of funds raised from the sale of the late Taryn Fiebig’s album, titled SHE. The album will be released on Sunday March 20 to coincide with the first anniversary of her death.
A much-loved opera soprano, Taryn was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2017, succumbing to the disease just four years later, aged 49.
Taryn during one of her stage performances.
Before her passing, Taryn – an OCRF ambassador – recorded her favourite songs, wishing for them to be compiled into this album and sold as a means of raising funds for the OCRF and awareness about ovarian cancer.
The title song, SHE was first recorded by Charles Aznavour, and stands for Survival Hope Empowerment, a mantra for those faced with an ovarian cancer diagnosis. It was re-recorded after Taryn’s death with a string quintet and a chorus of Taryn’s opera colleagues, students and husband Jud Arthur.
Well known conductor and broadcaster, Guy Noble, was musical producer for the album which was recorded at Trackdown Studios in Sydney.
In addition to SHE, songs on the album are an eclectic mix of arias sung by Taryn during her career, coupled with many of her favourite songs. A number of tracks see the SSB Orchestra accompany Taryn, with the remainder featuring Taryn singing whilst playing the cello or with Guy Noble accompanying her on the piano.
With thanks to the generosity of Loz Copley and the team she assembled to bring this project to life.
