Kel Pittman

Wife to Mark and mother of two, Kel Pittman was just 43 years old when she was diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer in 2014.

From what was suspected to be a case of bloating and irritable bowel syndrome for nine months by her doctors, Kel was given the shock diagnosis.

After undergoing immediate treatment and being declared in remission, Kel, like many ovarian cancer patients, unfortunately suffered numerous reccurences – the cancer had come back, and more aggressively.

Since her diagnosis, Kel became a passionate OCRF ambassador, a committed advocate for women living with ovarian cancer and a valuable member of the OCRF's Consumer Representative Panel, to ensure her daughter Mollie, wouldn't face the same threat of ovarian cancer.

I have a 14-year-old daughter, Mollie. I want her and her friends to be able to grow up and have a test for ovarian cancer as part of their regular health check-up.

I don't want them to fear this, and that is my motivation for spreading the word about signs and symptoms, and raising money for research. It's not going to save my life, but it might just save hers or one of her friends'."

Sadly, on November 1st 2022, Kel Pittman passed away at her family home in South Australia, after what was nearly nine years living with ovarian cancer.

Kel's warm, generous and caring spirit is survived by her husband Mark, daughter Mollie and son Tom.
