Xavier Lipman's Skateathon
In year 9 at my school, every student has the chance to pursue a passion project.
One of my passions is skateboarding so I decided to build a skate ramp, part of this passion project is a community aspect.
I first had the idea for a “Skateathon” after I saw a similar event at my school which involved the rowing team and their fundraising efforts.
I knew that the charity that I was going to support would be Helen’s Hope Foundation as Helen was a very close family friend. Over the 8 years I got to know how much of a beautiful and courageous person she was throughout her ugly battle against Ovarian Cancer. Since I had seen this immense struggle with my own eyes, I know the importance of early detection to the lives of all the women who might become a victim to this condition in the future.
I hope that my fundraising efforts for OCRF can make a difference to future research and help the lives of our mothers and sisters.
