Project Description:

In this early detection project Professor Oehler aimed to validate previously identified protein markers and establish a more accurate validation method using mass spectrometry than the generally accepted ELISA. They also sought to evaluate the specificity of the identified biomarkers in other common cancers that occur in females, early-stage lung and breast cancers.

Expected/Achieved Outcomes:

Knowledge Building: The team compared samples of early stage, advanced stage and healthy disease, as well as samples of early-stage lung and breast cancer.

Project Status:

The identified five promising biomarkers of ovarian cancer, which are now being further validated.
