The Walk with Women event was a walk for, and with, our wonder women.
Founded by ovarian cancer patient and OCRF ambassador, Helen Powell (pictured right), the inaugural walk was known as the Wonder Woman Walk, and took in 30km of the Mornington Peninsula foreshore in south eastern Victoria in 2016. Helen and her friends dressed as superhero Wonder Woman and trekked from Safety Beach to Sorrento, rattling tins in support of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
Devastatingly, Helen lost her life to ovarian cancer in 2020, but as was her wish for the Walk to continue and grow, today it is hosted by the OCRF and in two formats.
The first is virtually - such that anyone, anywhere can participate. There are loads of ways to get involved in the virtual format - setting a daily or a weekly walking goal throughout the month of February, or gathering a group of family and friends for a defined walking route along a popular track or trail are both popular options.
The second is physically - with those in Victoria able to register and walk in the footsteps of Helen and her friends along the 30km route between Safety Beach and Sorrento, or in a 5km loop around the Sorrento/Blairgowrie area for those who prefer a shorter option.

Walk with Women is held during February - coinciding with Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. The 2023 physical walk will be held on Sunday 12 February on the Mornington Peninsula and all virtual walking can take place at any time during the month of February.
